Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical and electrical integration of components, subsystems, and test articles, including structural assemblies, mechanisms, and fluid systems
- Set up, operate, and maintain vacuum systems and related hardware, including chamber assembly, pump-down, venting operations, leak checks, RGA use, and troubleshooting of vacuum performance
- Work with high-voltage and high-amperage systems, including power supplies, power distribution units, interlocks, and safety systems, adhering to lockout/tagout and electrical safety procedures
- Set up and operate furnaces and thermal processing equipment, monitor temperature profiles, and maintain equipment
- Support early development and prototype hardware by building, modifying, and reworking experimental assemblies, providing feedback to engineers on design for manufacturability, integration, and test
- Execute test setups and operations, including installing instrumentation, routing and securing cabling and plumbing, supporting test execution, monitoring, and post-test tear-down
- Interpret engineering documentation from drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, work instructions, and test procedures, resolving discrepancies with engineering
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and housekeeping, following all safety and contamination control requirements
- Support continuous improvement of build and test processes, accurately completing build records, nonconformance reports, and test logs
- Mentor junior technicians and contribute to a collaborative team environment
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 6 years of relevant hands-on technician experience or an Associate’s degree in a technical field plus 4 years of relevant experience
- Experience with vacuum systems, pumps, gauges, valves, and leak-checking
- Experience with high-voltage and high-amperage systems in industrial, test, or R&D environments
- Mechanical assembly and integration using standard hand and power tools
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and work instructions
- Proficient with shop and test equipment such as torque tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, pressure gauges
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to work overtime, off-shifts, and weekends as needed
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in confined spaces, at heights, and around noisy or hazardous equipment with proper PPE and training
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or granted asylum, compliant with U.S. export control requirements
