Job Description:
This role is part of client Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all client facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform mechanical and electrical integration of components, subsystems, and test articles, including:
Structural assemblies, mechanisms, and fluid systems.
Harnesses, sensors, and instrumentation.
Power distribution and control hardware.
Set up, operate, and maintain vacuum systems and related hardware, including:
Chamber assembly, pump-down, and venting operations
Leak checks, RGA use (where applicable), and basic troubleshooting of vacuum performance
Work with high-voltage and high-amperage systems, including:
Power supplies, power distribution units, interlocks, and safety systems
High-current bus bars, contactors, and protective devices
Strict adherence to lockout/tagout and electrical safety procedures
Set up and operate furnaces and thermal processing equipment:
Thermal cycling and bake-out operations for components and assemblies
Monitoring temperature profiles, documenting run parameters, and maintaining equipment
Support early development and prototype hardware:
Build, modify, and rework experimental assemblies based on evolving designs
Provide hands-on feedback to engineers on design for manufacturability, integration, and test
Execute test setups and operations:
Install instrumentation (pressure, temperature, strain, flow, etc.)
Route and secure cabling and plumbing to meet functional and cleanliness requirements
Support test execution, monitoring, and post-test tear-down
Interpret engineering documentation:
Work from drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, work instructions, and test procedures
Identify and help resolve documentation discrepancies with engineering
Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and housekeeping:
Follow all safety and contamination control requirements (FOD, ESD, cleanliness, PPE)
Support continuous improvement of build and test processes
Accurately complete build records, nonconformance reports, and test logs
Mentor junior technicians and contribute to a strong, collaborative team culture.
Skills:
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
6 years of relevant hands-on technician experience
OR Associate’s degree in a technical field (e.g., electronics, mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing) plus 4 years of relevant experience
Demonstrated experience in:
Vacuum systems: pumps, gauges, valves, basic leak-checking
High-voltage and/or high-amperage systems in an industrial, test, or R&D environment
Mechanical assembly and integration using standard hand and power tools
Ability to read and interpret:
Mechanical drawings and assembly prints
Electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
Written work instructions and test procedures
Proficient with common shop and test equipment (e.g., torque tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes or data acquisition interfaces, pressure gauges).
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to work overtime, off-shifts, and weekends as needed to support program and test schedules.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in confined spaces, at heights, and around noisy or hazardous equipment (with proper PPE and training).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in aerospace, spaceflight, or other high-reliability industries (e.g., aviation, defense, semiconductor, nuclear).
Hands-on experience with:
Vacuum chambers, cryopumps, turbomolecular pumps, and RGA or helium leak detection
High-power DC and AC systems: >600 V or hundreds of amps, including interlock/safety design
Furnaces or thermal processing equipment (box, tube, or vacuum furnaces) for component conditioning or material processing
Familiarity with:
Cleanroom or controlled-environment work practices
ESD control, FOD prevention, and contamination control standards
Basic data acquisition, sensors, and instrumentation wiring
Experience with early development hardware:
Rapid prototyping, frequent design changes, build-to-concept or build-to-sketch environments
Providing feedback to engineering on assembly sequence, access, tooling, and testability
Basic computer skills, including:
Use of ERP/MES or work order systems
Reading and updating digital work instructions
Basic data entry and report writing
Demonstrated ability to mentor junior technicians and lead small integration or test tasks.
Additional Requirements:
Willingness to strictly follow all safety procedures, particularly regarding vacuum, high voltage, high current, and thermal systems.
Ability to use appropriate PPE and follow lockout/tagout procedures without exception.
Willingness to support off-hour test operations and critical integration milestones as required.
