About the Role:
As a Direct Hire Partner, you will lead and oversee all aspects of corporate tax planning, compliance, and reporting, with a particular focus on ASC 740 and public company tax requirements. You will serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, ensuring tax-efficient structures, robust risk management, and accurate financial reporting. Your work will directly influence the company's effective tax rate, cash tax position, and overall transaction strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead preparation, review, and oversight of ASC 740 income tax provisions, including quarterly and annual reporting for public company financial statements
- Direct and manage federal, state, and local income tax compliance, ensuring timely and accurate filings
- Oversee sales and use tax processes, including nexus analysis, compliance, and risk mitigation
- Drive transfer pricing strategy and documentation, collaborating with finance and business units to align policies with operational realities
- Lead cost segregation studies and related analyses to optimise depreciation and capitalisation for tax purposes
- Advise on M&A tax matters, including due diligence, structuring, integration, and post-transaction planning
- Develop and execute corporate tax planning initiatives to optimise the company's effective tax rate and support business objectives
- Partner with internal and external auditors, tax authorities, and advisors to resolve tax issues and support audits and examinations
Key Requirements:
- Extensive experience in corporate tax with a focus on ASC 740 and public company tax reporting
- Proven track record managing federal income tax, state and local tax, and sales & use tax for complex organisations
- Hands-on experience with transfer pricing policies, documentation, and implementation
- Demonstrated expertise in tax aspects of M&A transactions, including due diligence and structuring
- Strong background in depreciation and capitalisation rules, including practical application to fixed assets and cost recovery
- Ability to lead, mentor, and develop tax teams and manage multiple concurrent projects
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working within or advising large public companies or multinational groups
- Exposure to international tax concepts and cross-border structuring
- Familiarity with tax technology tools and process automation in a tax function
- Prior experience liaising with audit committees and presenting complex tax matters to boards or executive teams
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA qualification required or equivalent professional certification
- Advanced tax or accounting degree (e.g., MST, JD/LLM in Taxation) preferred
- Significant experience in a Big 4 or large public accounting firm and/or corporate tax leadership role in a public company
