Director of Tax
A growing, capital-intensive organization is seeking a Director of Tax to serve as a strategic advisor to the business and lead the company's tax planning, structuring, and compliance initiatives. This individual will partner closely with executive leadership to develop tax strategies that support growth initiatives, optimize cash taxes, and align with the company's investment and operational objectives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute tax strategies that support business growth, capital investments, and organizational objectives.
- Advise leadership on the tax implications of acquisitions, investments, financing arrangements, and expansion initiatives.
- Partner with finance, legal, accounting, and operational leaders on strategic business decisions and transaction activity.
- Lead tax planning related to large capital projects, fixed assets, equipment investments, and infrastructure expenditures.
- Oversee depreciation strategies, capitalization policies, cost recovery opportunities, and fixed asset tax matters.
- Support acquisition and transaction activity, including tax diligence, structuring, purchase price allocation, and post-transaction integration.
- Provide guidance on commercial agreements, service arrangements, and operating structures to ensure tax-efficient outcomes.
- Oversee federal, state, and local tax compliance processes and coordinate with external advisors.
- Partner with accounting on tax provisions, deferred taxes, and financial reporting matters.
- Develop and improve tax processes, controls, and governance procedures.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership while translating complex tax matters into practical business recommendations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, Master's in Tax, or JD preferred.
- 10 years of progressive tax experience within public accounting and/or industry.
- Strong background in corporate tax planning, tax structuring, and tax compliance.
- Experience supporting capital-intensive businesses, infrastructure projects, manufacturing, energy, real estate, or other asset-heavy industries.
- Knowledge of depreciation, capitalization rules, fixed asset tax planning, and cost recovery strategies.
- Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and transaction-related tax matters.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and indirect tax considerations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership and business partners.
- Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment and influence cross-functional decision making.
Salary : $150,000 - $180,000
