Audit Supervisor

Syntax Talent Solutions is seeking a skilled Audit Supervisor to join our team in Baltimore County. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in auditing and possess excellent analytical and communication skills. As an Audit Supervisor you will take a leading role in overseeing assurance engagements, guiding staff development, and ensuring timely, accurate deliverables for a diverse client portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multiple audit and review engagements, ensuring timely and accurate completion aligned with professional standards
• Oversee staff and senior accountants-assigning tasks, reviewing work, and coaching throughout the audit cycle
• Serve as the main point of contact for clients, fostering strong relationships and clearly communicating audit findings and recommendations
• Maintain high-quality standards by ensuring all deliverables comply with firm policies, industry regulations, and auditing standards (GAAS, GAAP)
• Provide technical guidance on complex accounting issues and identify necessary adjustments or journal entries
• Identify opportunities to enhance audit processes, manage engagement budgets, and recommend workflow improvements
• Contribute to staff development by mentoring team members, offering feedback, and promoting continued professional education
• Work across diverse industries including healthcare, nonprofit, real estate, construction, employee benefit plans, HUD, and labor unions

Requirements

• 4-6 years of audit and accounting experience within a public accounting firm (small to mid-size preferred)
• CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA licensure
• Strong knowledge of GAAS and GAAP auditing and reporting standards
• Proven ability to manage multiple engagements and delegate tasks across teams
• Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Yardi)
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to explain complex financial matters clearly
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills-capable of working effectively both in-person and remotely
