Engineering Technician I

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Engineering Technician I to support civil and environmental engineering projects. This role is ideal for candidates looking to grow their technical skills while gaining hands-on experience in site development, design, and field operations.
The Engineering Technician will assist with project planning, design, permitting, and construction support while collaborating with engineers, project managers, and regulatory agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow all company and client safety requirements and promote a safe work environment
- Support project managers and engineers with planning, design, and execution of site development, grading, and infrastructure projects
- Conduct site inspections, surveys, and data collection to support engineering design and analysis
- Assist in preparing design plans, specifications, and cost estimates
- Review land development plans including subdivisions, grading, zoning, stormwater management, and erosion control
- Support preparation and submission of permit applications (federal, state, and local), including environmental permits
- Provide construction monitoring and field support to ensure compliance with design specifications and environmental regulations
- Utilize CAD software (AutoCAD required) to develop and modify engineering drawings
- Prepare technical reports, maps, and documentation for project deliverables
- Document field conditions through notes, sketches, and data collection
- Use Excel and other tools to compile and analyze field and laboratory data
- Interpret maps and site data for project use
- Coordinate with subcontractors and contractors under supervision
- Respond to internal requests and communications in a timely manner
- Travel to project sites as needed, including occasional out-of-town assignments
- Perform additional duties as required to support project and company objectives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Science (required)
- 1–4 years of experience in civil or environmental engineering or related field
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (required)
- Familiarity with Civil 3D, HydroCAD, Stormwater modeling tools, or GIS (preferred)
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to adapt to changing project requirements

Work Environment & Schedule
- Standard workweek: 40–45 hours
- Core hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexible schedule available)
- In-office presence required unless otherwise approved
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- Capability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain
- Fieldwork may include walking long distances, hiking, bending, kneeling, and carrying equipment
- Ability to sit for extended periods during office work or travel
Salary : $65,000 - $80,000
