What are the responsibilities and job description for the Relationship Banker position at SYNERGY BANK?
POSITION SUMMARY: A Relationship Banker provides services to existing and potential customers. This position primarily supports the loan function of the branch while also supporting the customer service function.
Loan Support Functions
- Assist loan officers and loan staff with servicing loan files throughout the loan lifecycle
- Support loan processing activities including:
- Inputting loan applications into applicable systems (e.g., LaserPro)
- Assigning loans for document preparation
- Processing renewals and denied loan packages within regulatory timeframes
- Tracking loan status using established checklists
- Prepare loan files for closing by ensuring completion of approvals, documentation, and insurance requirements
- Coordinate loan closings, including preparing tickets, distributing proceeds, and submitting completed files for review and booking
- Maintain accuracy, completeness, and timeliness in all loan-related documentation
- Perform additional loan-related duties within scope as assigned
Customer Relationship & Service
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers by providing prompt, professional, and courteous service
- Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate banking products and services
- Open new accounts and perform maintenance on existing accounts with accuracy
- Process customer transactions, including wire transfers and other service requests
- Assist customers with safe deposit box access
- Respond to customer inquiries via phone and in person
- Collaborate with team members to achieve branch service and sales goals
Branch Operations Support
- Support overall branch operations by working efficiently with team members to meet customer needs
- Provide operational assistance and coverage across branch functions as needed
- May provide guidance or support in the absence of branch leadership, depending on experience level
Compliance & Risk Management
- Adhere to all bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including BSA/AML compliance
- Maintain strict confidentiality of customer and company information
- Ensure all transactions and documentation meet accuracy, quality, and regulatory standards
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
- Previous experience with Loans
- Two or more years of banking experience
- Business degree from a technical school and/or college
- Knowledge of NuPoint, New Account Console, Card@Once, IMM, and Chexsystems
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- General knowledge in Microsoft programs Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Proficient at operating a computer, typing/word processing, ten key number pad, printer, fax machine, and copier.
- May require successful registration with, and issuance of a unique identification number from, the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) in compliance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (S.A.F.E. Act).
- The interpersonal skills necessary to relate to and empathize with other people and to maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor through the day.
- Must possess superior organizational skills, communication skills and capable of making good judgments.
- Must have a professional appearance and manner at all times.
- Ability to travel to designated Synergy Bank locations as needed.
- Must be able to provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and customers both verbally and in written format.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regular attendance is required. Must be available for a full-time schedule (40 Hours) Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use of hands and fingers to feel or handle equipment and files; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have the attention span to stay alert and attentive during a normal 8-hour workday.
- The Relationship Banker must be able to make sound, quick decisions based on the facts of a situation, and remain calm and in control in a possible ever-changing environment or an emergency.
- Must be able to follow instructions and procedures exactly as trained or as directed by his or her supervisor.
