Machine Operator
The Machine Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring production equipment to ensure products are processed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards. This individual will help maximize production output, maintain accurate documentation, and support the overall success of the production line in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor production equipment and machine interfaces to ensure efficient line performance.
- Verify product labels, code dates, and customer specifications throughout the production process.
- Track production metrics including fill rates, downtime, throughput, and production cycles, taking action to improve efficiency as needed.
- Maintain production records and complete all required documentation accurately and timely.
- Collaborate with Quality, Production Leads, and Supervisors to address production issues and ensure compliance with customer and company standards.
- Assist with line changeovers and participate in verification processes to ensure accuracy.
- Support multiple areas of the production line to minimize downtime and eliminate bottlenecks.
- Communicate equipment issues to the Maintenance team and assist with recovery plans during downtime.
- Lead and support line cleaning and sanitation activities, ensuring all procedures are completed safely and effectively.
- Monitor staffing levels during shift changes, breaks, and lunches to maintain line productivity.
- Review performance metrics and implement corrective actions or best practices to drive continuous improvement.
- Report safety, quality, or operational concerns to leadership immediately.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience working in refrigerated or cold environments is a plus.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication skills, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Bilingual Spanish skills are a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to meet production deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong attendance history and reliability are required.
- Must possess legible handwriting and the ability to complete production documentation accurately.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a cold and wet manufacturing environment.
- Requires standing for the duration of the shift.
- Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and repetitive movements are required.
- Must be able to regularly lift up to 45 pounds.
- Must be able to frequently push and pull carts or product loads weighing up to 500 pounds using rollers and material handling equipment.
