We are seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Trial Attorney to join a collaborative insurance defense practice in Melville, NY. The role is open to Associate and Partner-level attorneys, depending on experience, with an emphasis on general and professional liability defense litigation and opportunities for long-term professional growth.
Responsibilities
Handle a diverse caseload involving general and professional liability defense.
Represent clients in matters involving: Premises liability, Product liability, Professional liability, Construction accidents and defects, Transportation and trucking, Medical malpractice, Catastrophic injury defense, Subrogation
Manage cases through discovery, depositions, motion practice, negotiations, and trial.
Handle complex and high-profile catastrophic loss and liability matters.
Develop litigation strategies and provide effective legal advice and client representation.
Communicate directly with sophisticated clients, carriers, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.
Maintain strong attention to case preparation, responsiveness, billing requirements, and client service.
Collaborate with attorneys and support staff on case strategy and litigation management.
Participate in client development and referral relationships as appropriate.
Take ownership of assigned matters while contributing to the firm's broader practice and growth.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
Active New York Bar admission.
Experience in general or professional liability defense litigation.
Strong litigation and trial experience preferred.
Excellent legal research, writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.
Strong client-service mindset with a focus on responsiveness and preparation.
Ability to manage complex matters independently and work effectively as part of a team.
Interest in mentoring, leadership, and long-term professional development.
Attorneys with significant experience may be considered for Partner-level opportunities.
