The Estimator will be responsible for assessing project requirements, analyzing drawings and specifications, preparing cost estimates, and supporting sales efforts to ensure accurate and competitive bids. This role requires a good understanding of window film products (e.g., solar, safety, decorative, privacy), installation processes, and materials.
Responsibilities
- Review project plans, specifications, and customer requirements to prepare detailed cost estimates
- Perform site visits as needed to gather measurements and assess installation conditions
- Calculate material quantities, labor hours, and associated costs for film installation
- Work with suppliers to obtain pricing for window film and installation materials
- Collaborate with the sales team to develop competitive proposals and bids
- Prepare and present clear and accurate estimates and proposals to clients
- Maintain and update estimating tools, databases, and pricing sheets
- Assist in project handoffs to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to installation
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, architects, and internal teams
- Proven experience as an estimator, preferably in window films, glass, glazing, or related construction trades
- Ability to read blueprints and construction drawings
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software (experience with CRM or takeoff tools is a plus)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Valid driver's license and ability to conduct on-site visits as needed
- US citizenship is required to access government facilities
- Knowledge of industry codes, regulations, and film performance standards
- Familiarity with different types of window film is preferred but not necessary (solar control, safety/security, decorative, etc.)
- Previous experience working with commercial or residential film installation projects
- Technical understanding of window glazing systems and compatibility with film products
