Job Description
- The Estimator is responsible for developing accurate cost estimates for construction projects from pre-planning through execution. This includes evaluating labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs while coordinating with project managers, architects, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Prepare and compile cost estimates, scope data, and quantity take-offs from construction plans and specifications.
- Perform take-offs and input data into spreadsheets and estimating software.
- Create estimating templates, spreadsheets, and formulas for standardization.
- Manage the Invitation to Bid system and maintain subcontractor/supplier data.
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid proposals to determine project scope.
- Collaborate with architects, owners, subcontractors, suppliers, and project teams.
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing and qualifications.
- Support value engineering and constructability reviews.
- Assist with project budget preparation and monitor estimate updates as the project progresses.
- Prepare project schedules related to estimating.
- Perform project management duties as needed.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, means, and cost principles.
- Ability to prepare detailed cost estimate reports.
- Proficient in estimating formats, blueprint reading, and formula creation.
- Working knowledge of BIM.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent technical training/experience.
- 2-5 years of conceptual or design-build estimating experience.
- Experience with construction estimating software.
