About the Role
The Estimator (Application Proposal Specialist) is responsible for developing accurate proposals and cost estimates for conveyor and material handling systems in accordance with customer specifications. Working closely with account managers, designers, and project teams, this position ensures proposals are complete, compliant, and aligned with business and customer objectives. This role plays a key part in the project lifecycle—supporting proposal development, managing change orders, assisting in sales closure, and maintaining clear communication between internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Develop practical, value-driven solutions to meet customer needs.
- Collaborate with account managers, designers, and customers to define project scope and requirements.
- Create proposal drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design tools.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposal documentation.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes.
- Participate in project meetings and assist in tracking scope, budget, and milestones.
- Maintain CRM data and contribute to process improvements within the estimating function.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor preferred.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Associate Degree in Mechanical Design or related field, or equivalent experience.
Required Skills
Detail-oriented, analytical, and eager to develop their career in estimating and proposal development.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor preferred.
