Our challenge
We are seeking a Database Engineer who will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining database systems that store and organize critical business data.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $95k - $100k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop database architectures (Mainly Oracle, SQL Server).
- Install, configure, and upgrade database management systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server).
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions.
- Monitor database performance and tune queries for efficiency.
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and security across systems.
- Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Manage database access, roles, and permissions.
- Collaborate with application developers to design data models and schemas.
- Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide timely resolution.
- Automate database tasks using scripting (PowerShell, Shell).
- Ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory standards.
- Support data migration and integration activities.
Requirements:
- Strong experience with SQL and database design.
- Hands-on experience with DBMS: SQL Server, Oracle, MySQLand MongoDB.
- Knowledge of indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with ETL processes and data warehousing concepts.
- Experience with cloud databases (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL) is a plus.
- Scripting knowledge (Bash, PowerShell) and winScp knowledge must.
Preferred, but not required:
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Certification in database technologies (e.g., Microsoft, Oracle).
