Your role
We are seeking a reliable and detail‑oriented Blending Operator to support the safe and efficient processing of dried ingredients and finished products through blending operations. The role ensures product quality through accurate formulation, labeling, documentation, and compliance with food safety standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Operational Tasks
- Locate product specifications in the ERP (AX System).
- Verify the correct formulation loaded into PLC for blending operations.
- Load and unload the BBU system and operate finished goods loading stations.
- Operate bulk powder silo systems and manage ingredient transfers.
- Fill super sacks per standard guidelines.
- Print and apply product labels.
- Stage pallets, wrap/secure loads, and prepare for warehouse pickup.
- Restock and label unused ingredients.
- Perform CIP of blending area, including disassembly, cleaning, and flushing.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues (weight variation, silos, sifters, filter receivers, dust collection, soy oil addition).
- Ensure all blending system components are empty before new work orders.
- Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness.
Technical Components
- Forklift and hoist operation.
- Scale verification and calibration.
- Use of production hand tools.
- Ability to read gauges and operate touch panels/control screens.
- Understanding process flow and equipment interactions.
Administrative Components
- Navigate ERP (AX System) efficiently.
- Complete required paperwork accurately.
- Use ADP Workflow Software System.
Quality Components
- Reference SPF Quality Manual (Conform/Non‑Conformance).
- Comply with ingredients, materials, and product code specifications.
- Fulfill HACCP standards and GMP requirements.
- Identify food safety risks (insects, leaks, foreign materials, microcontaminants, etc.).
- Follow EU/Non‑EU and GMO/Non‑GMO standards.
Safety Components
- Proper use of PPE.
- Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Awareness of slip/trip/fall hazards.
- Proper chemical handling and lifting techniques.
- Follow accident and incident reporting procedures.
- Attend scheduled safety meetings.
Leadership & Teamwork
- Maintain a positive attitude and strong communication.
- Support teamwork and process improvement.
- Follow all company policies and regulations.
- Assist with training and onboarding.
- Participate in GMP, ISO, and FSSC audits.
Schedule
- 12‑hour night shift
- Rotating weekends
About you
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Food manufacturing experience preferred.
- Knowledge of GMP and hygienic practices is preferred.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and work in physically demanding environments.
- Strong color, odor, and texture perception.
- Basic math, reading, and comprehension skills.
- Safety‑ and quality‑focused attitude.
