Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Attendants to provide high-quality support and assistance to individuals in various care settings. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering personalized care to enhance the well-being, safety, and independence of clients, including seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those recovering from illness. This role requires a strong commitment to patient-centered care and adherence to safety standards, including HIPAA regulations. Prior experience in home health, assisted living, or long-term care environments is highly valued.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Monitor and observe patients’ conditions, documenting changes and reporting to healthcare professionals as needed
- Support medication administration following prescribed guidelines and care plans
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary
- Perform light cleaning duties to maintain a safe and hygienic environment
- Operate medical equipment such as Hoyer lifts and assist with transfers safely
- Take vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to monitor health status
- Provide companionship and emotional support to promote mental well-being
- Follow all safety protocols related to patient care, including CPR and first aid procedures
- Assist with mobility exercises and facilitate participation in social activities or community outings when appropriate
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Qualifications
- Prior experience in home & community care, assisted living, nursing homes, or hospice care preferred
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorders is a plus
- Certification in CPR and First Aid required or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Ability to lift heavy loads safely (e.g., Hoyer lifts) and perform physically demanding tasks as needed
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and reporting changes in condition
- Excellent communication skills and compassionate demeanor
- Ability to work independently while following detailed care plans
- Experience with medication administration and vital signs measurement preferred
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information
- Flexibility to work various shifts including days, evenings, or weekends as required
