We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Line Cook to join our dynamic culinary team. The Line Cook is responsible for preparing high-volume meals using a variety of cooking techniques including chopping, mixing, sautéing, frying, grilling, and baking. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to hygiene and safety standards, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You’ll work closely with Prep Cooks and Lead Cooks under the direction of the Chef de Cuisine.
Primary Responsibilities

Advanced Food Preparation: Prepare a wide variety of dishes and ingredients with precision and consistency, utilizing various cooking methods.

Quality Control: Ensure each dish meets established standards for taste, presentation, and consistency.

Kitchen Organization: Maintain efficient workstation setup and ingredient availability throughout shift.

Team Training & Supervision: Support the onboarding and training of new culinary staff; mentor less experienced cooks.

Inventory Management: Follow FIFO protocols, restock as needed, and notify chef of low inventory levels.

Health & Safety Compliance: Enforce strict health codes and maintain a clean, sanitary environment.

Equipment Care: Operate and maintain all kitchen equipment properly; report issues promptly.

High-Volume Production: Prepare large quantities of food efficiently, especially during peak service times.

Collaboration: Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment.
Daily Duties

Operate, clean, and maintain kitchen equipment (e.g., ovens, stovetops, mixers, scales).

Read and follow recipes accurately.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstation and storage areas (dry, cold, and frozen).

Assist in meal service to residents, staff, and patrons.

Support the Chef de Cuisine in preparing staff meals and special event dishes.

Ensure proper sanitation of kitchen tools, surfaces, and equipment.

Lift, carry, and move items up to 50 lbs; stand for extended periods; bend and stoop regularly.

Work weekends and holidays as required.
Other Duties

Assist the bakery team as needed.

Work alongside volunteers and community workers during meal preparation and service.

Adapt to evolving needs and perform additional tasks with a positive attitude.
Qualifications

Experience: Minimum 3 years of culinary experience; high-volume production preferred.

Education: High school diploma or GED preferred; culinary degree a plus.

Certifications: Valid CA Food Handler Certification is required.
