Role: Principal Hardware Systems Engineer - FPGA & Defense Electronics

Job Summary

Our client, a leading defense and advanced systems engineering organization, is seeking a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff to support MK48 Torpedo Systems programs. This position will provide technical leadership for advanced hardware architectures, multidisciplinary engineering integration, and mission-critical defense systems development.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead hardware system architecture involving digital, analog, and mechanical systems
• Participate in hardware, firmware, and software design trade studies and reviews
• Support design analysis, simulation, verification, and documentation
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams across complex development programs
• Conduct root cause analysis and technical risk assessments
• Optimize electronic systems for efficiency, performance, and cost
• Mentor engineers in board-level design and integration activities
  
  

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM discipline
• 10 years of engineering experience or Master's plus 8 years
• Experience with FPGA, CPLD, DDR4, flash memory, and high-speed digital systems
• Strong analog, digital, and power electronics expertise
• U.S. Citizenship required
• Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Clearance

• OpenVPX, CAN, PIC-SIG, and 5 Gbps serial link experience
• High-frequency magnetics design
• OrCAD PSPICE, LT Spice, Mathcad experience
• Technical leadership in defense or naval systems programs
