Help Wanted Full Time Position – Caregiver Advisor
Qualifications: The Caregiver Advisor must have a minimum of an Associate’s Degree and a minimum of working with older adults and their families. A BS in Social Service or Psychology is preferred. The Caregiver Advisor will provide information and assistance, training and education, counseling, case management, and support groups within the five counties of Clay, Effingham, Fayette, Jefferson, and Marion. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and possess excellent word composition skills. Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, proof of current automobile insurance, the ability to conduct visits in homes, be able to stand for an extended period of time and be able to lift 25 pounds.
The Caregiver Advisor will also conduct assessments with families to determine respite hours, which are to provide temporary, intermittent relief from direct care to a primary family caregiver.
The Caregiver Advisor is also responsible for administering the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Program which includes facilitating support groups, training and education, and assessing for respite.
This is a full-time position – 40 hours per week. The Caregiver Advisor must complete training through Midland Area Agency on Aging and 40 hours of Domestic Violence Training. Employment is contingent on successful background checks through the Illinois State Police and the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). The Caregiver Advisor must be a self-starter and comfortable providing outreach and marketing. The primary workplace could be at one of the following SWAN Offices: Effingham, Vandalia, or Salem.
Benefits: SWAN has 9 paid holidays, paid leave hours after 90 days of employment, 2 weeks of vacation after 1 year of employment, and sick time accrual. SWAN offers employer paid health and dental insurance and the opportunity for a retirement plan. In addition, employees of SWAN may make payroll deductions for vision insurance, and other insurances such as life and short-term disability during open enrollment periods. The pay range is $20-$23 per hour depending on education and experience. The Caregiver Advisor is reimbursed monthly for mileage incurred on-the-job at the current IRS rate.
