After-School and Weekend Chinese Teacher or Substitute Teacher

About us:

Founded in 1996 as a non-profit, community-based organization, Shuang Wen Academy Network (SWAN) goal has been to conduct the After-School, Pre-School and Summer Programs. SWAN’s long term vision is to prepare students in both English and Mandarin, American and Chinese cultures, in order that they may participate fully in an increasingly relevant global environment. SWAN’s After-School Programs have been providing a Mandarin Language and Chinese Culture Program.

The Position:

The After-School and Weekend Teacher position is for part-time. After-School hours are 2:15pm to 6:00pm and weekend hours are 9am to 12pm (you can choose to teach in the after-school, and/or the weekend program). The position reports directly to the Educational Director and After-School Manager, he/she will be responsible with the following responsibilities:

• Follow designed curriculum and provide language materials for students to explore and learn.
• Utilize Google Classroom to post lesson plan and students' progress update.
• Assist in after-school pick-up service.
• Lead and encourage participation of songs and classroom activities.
• Design and maintain various bulletin boards to display students’ artwork and monthly activities.
• Keep classroom neat, clean and organized.

· Must pass full background check includes fingerprinting.

· Must be at least 18 years of age with high school or above education.

· Mandarin, Chinese verbal communication skills.

· High energy, engaging and the ability to multi-task.

· Experienced in working with children under the age of 10 in an educational program.

· Detail oriented, self-starter and the ability to think outside the box.

· Preferred English/Chinese bilingual skills and bicultural capabilities.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $23.00 - $31.00 per hour
