What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outside Sales Representative position at Swagelok Louisiana?
Build Relationships. Solve Problems. Grow a Territory.
Swagelok Louisiana is looking for a relationship-driven professional to grow and support our Lake Charles territory.
This is a field-based, consultative role serving customers in the petrochemical, refining, chemical, and oil and gas industries. You will spend your time building trusted relationships, understanding customer challenges, and helping identify practical solutions using Swagelok products, services, and technical expertise.
Prior outside sales experience is preferred, but it is not the only path to success in this role.
We are also interested in candidates who know the Lake Charles industrial market, understand plant environments, have strong relationships in the petrochemical community, and are ready to take their industry experience into a customer-facing position.
If you are credible, curious, personable, and comfortable walking into a plant and starting a conversation, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
- Build and grow relationships with customers throughout the Lake Charles area
- Serve as a trusted resource to plant personnel, engineers, maintenance teams, procurement professionals, and decision-makers
- Learn about customer applications, challenges, projects, and operational needs
- Identify new business opportunities and support projects early in the process
- Recommend Swagelok fluid system components, custom solutions, and related services
- Develop and manage a territory plan focused on long-term growth
- Deliver product and technical presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Maintain customer activity, opportunities, and pipeline information in CRM
- Partner with internal teams to provide responsive, value-based solutions
What We’re Looking For
You may be a strong fit if you have:
- Experience in the petrochemical, refining, chemical, oil and gas, industrial, or manufacturing sectors
- Familiarity with the Lake Charles industrial market and surrounding facilities
- Existing relationships or professional connections within the local oil and gas or petrochemical community
- A natural ability to build trust and communicate with people at all levels
- Strong follow-up, organization, and personal accountability
- The ability to work independently and manage a field-based territory
- Confidence discussing technical products, applications, or operational challenges
- A genuine interest in helping customers solve problems
Outside B2B sales experience is preferred, but not required. We will consider candidates with strong industry knowledge, customer relationships, technical credibility, or business development potential.
An associate or bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, technology, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent experience will also be considered.
Who You Are
You are not someone who waits for business to appear in your inbox.
You enjoy meeting people, asking good questions, learning how operations work, and finding ways to create value. You are comfortable being visible in the market, following through on commitments, and representing a respected brand with professionalism.
You understand that successful sales is not about pushing products. It is about earning trust, solving problems, and becoming the person customers call when they need help.
