Maintenance Technician – HVAC
Location: Madison, WI
Status: Full-Time
Position Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable Maintenance Technician with a strong HVAC specialization to support the maintenance and repair needs of our residential properties. This role will focus heavily on troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining heating and cooling systems while also assisting with general apartment and home maintenance as needed.
Key Responsibilities
• Diagnose, repair, and maintain HVAC systems, including furnaces, AC units, thermostats, ventilation, and related components
• Perform seasonal HVAC checks and preventative maintenance to ensure systems operate efficiently
• Complete general maintenance tasks inside apartments or houses, including basic plumbing, painting, electrical, and carpentry
• Assist with unit turns and property improvements as needed
• Respond promptly and professionally to tenant work orders and maintenance requests
• Maintain accurate records of HVAC work completed, parts used, and system performance
• Participate in seasonal responsibilities, including snow removal
• Join the year-round after-hours emergency on-call rotation
Qualifications
• Previous HVAC repair and maintenance experience required (residential experience preferred)
• EPA certification or HVAC credential is highly preferred
• Strong understanding of furnaces, air conditioning units, ventilation systems, and thermostatic controls
• General maintenance skills (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting) a plus
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and perform physical tasks throughout the day
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
