At SMTI, we are driven by innovation, precision, and engineering excellence. Our R&D team in Williston, Vermont is looking for a Mechanical/Pneumatic Engineer to design and develop advanced systems that power the future of semiconductor manufacturing.

You would:
- Generate design concepts, diagrams, P-schematics, detail, and assembly drawings
- CAD & Bill of Materials creation and maintenance with SolidWorks & SAP/ECTR
- Work within the requirements of internal product development processes including participation in design/project reviews
- Design and develop pneumatic and gas delivery systems for semiconductor equipment, including regulators, valves, manifolds, and tubing assemblies
- Perform sizing, selection, and specification of pneumatic components to meet performance, cleanliness, and safety standards
- Develop schematics, P&IDs, and system layouts using Zuken E3 schematic software
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, process, and controls engineers to ensure seamless system integration
- Partner with suppliers and vendors to source high-quality components and develop custom solutions
- Ensure compliance with industry and safety standards (SEMI, ISO, etc.) and internal quality requirements
- Participate in design reviews and risk assessments (FMEA)
You need:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or relevant technical degree)
- 3 years of experience in pneumatic system design (semiconductor, vacuum systems, or high-tech equipment preferred)
Strong understanding of:
- Fluid dynamics and gas flow behavior
- Pressure control systems and regulators
- Valves (solenoid, proportional, diaphragm) and actuation systems
- Familiarity with cleanroom design constraints and UHP system requirements
- Knowledge of deep vacuum systems a plus
- Fundamental knowledge of electro-mechanical systems
- Proficient in the use of SolidWorks CAD systems and P-schematics software
- Experience with ERP and PLM systems for document, material, BOM and revisions -preferably SAP and ECTR
- Knowledge of Semi Spec standards a plus
