Yard Hand/Equipment Operator

Duties

• Operate heavy construction machinery such as loaders, backhoes, excavators, dozers, cranes, and dump trucks to move materials around the yard or job sites efficiently.
• Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment including hydraulic systems, mechanical parts, and safety features to ensure optimal operation.
• Handle materials using appropriate material handling equipment like forklifts, roll-off trucks, water trucks, and tanker trucks while adhering to safety protocols.
• Follow all safety regulations and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) during operations to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others.
• Conduct inspections of construction machinery to identify potential issues related to hydraulics, mechanical systems, or structural integrity.
• Support the team by performing general yard duties such as cleaning work areas, organizing supplies, and assisting with loading/unloading materials.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working on construction sites or in a similar heavy equipment operation role is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of construction machinery maintenance, hydraulics, hand tools, and safety procedures related to heavy equipment operation.
• Ability to operate various types of construction machinery including cranes (certification preferred), loaders, backhoes, excavators, dozers, and forklifts.
• Mechanical aptitude with understanding of equipment safety standards and occupational safety regulation compliance.
• Strong physical stamina with the ability to lift heavy loads and perform manual tasks safely.
• Excellent attention to detail for conducting inspections and maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
