Concrete Redi-Mix Batchman

BATCHMAN JOB DESCRIPTION

The Batchman reports directly to the Plant Manager and is responsible for the safe batching of quality ready-mix concrete. This is a skilled position requiring a thorough understanding of ready mix concrete. Operator controls the process to produce concrete from raw ingredients and additives according to predetermined specifications using computer batching software. Verifies correct admixtures are used in correct dosages and provides verification that the concrete batched meets the specifications established by company and customer. This position requires day to day interaction with other employees deliveries, for providing a professional level of customer service with all customers; and for assisting the Manager in safely and efficiently maintaining and operating the ready-mix concrete plant facilities. Our ideal candidates are familiar with concrete products, have excellent communication skills, and have experience in logistics or dispatching roles as well.

AVAILABILITY

The Batchman is expected to work Monday through Saturday. The Batchman must be flexible to adjusting daily start and/or finishing times to meet the needs of our customers. A standard workday is 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Weekend work is scheduled as needed. On rare occasions, holiday work may be required.

Specific duties may include:

• Verify each load for yardage, mix, added products and all other quality information
• Operate equipment safely and efficiently
• Receive and inspect raw materials
• Keep required records and logs
• Oversee the cleaning of the central mix plant
• Monitor inventories in the plant. (Cement, fly-ash, admixtures)
• Ability to perform moderately complex mathematical equations as applicable
• Thorough working knowledge of computer/batching system
• Define problems, collect data and communicate with management
• Communicate with customers to confirm orders, provide updates, and resolve issues
• Manage delivery tickets and maintain records of transactions
• Monitor inventory of materials and coordinate with suppliers as needed
• Resolve delivery or product issues in a timely and efficient manner
• Provide excellent customer service to ensure customer satisfaction
• Documenting all orders, deliveries, and client interactions for future reference
• Making sure trucks are not overloaded and that all loads fall within standard weight limits for each vehicle

Specific qualifications include:

• Previous command alkon experience is preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven leadership experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry
• Ability to prioritize responsibilities and manage multiple service needs simultaneously
• Previous ready-mix batching experience is preferred
• Mechanical knowledge is a plus

• Proven experience as a batchman or relevant position
• Experience with logistics software will be a plus
• Excellent ability to prioritize and multitask

• Sound judgement and critical thinking
• High school diploma or equivalent

Pay: Compensation is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations
