Job Title: Business Office Coordinator
Position Summary
The Business Office Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the business office within the surgery center. This role ensures efficient patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling coordination, and financial processes while supporting a high level of patient satisfaction and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily business office operations including front desk, scheduling, and patient communications
- Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and obtain prior authorizations as needed
- Ensure accurate patient registration, demographic entry, and documentation
- Collect patient payments, co-pays, and outstanding balances in accordance with center policies
- Serve as a liaison between patients, physicians, clinical staff, and billing teams
- Monitor and maintain scheduling accuracy and case coordination
- Assist with revenue cycle processes, including charge capture and follow-up
- Address patient inquiries, concerns, and financial questions in a professional manner
- Support compliance with HIPAA, CMS, AAAHC and organizational policies
- Assist leadership with reporting, audits, and process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- Previous experience in a healthcare or surgery center setting preferred
- Knowledge of insurance verification, authorizations, and medical terminology
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in EMR systems and Microsoft Office
