Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments to evaluate patient readiness for surgery, including vital signs, medical history, and physical examinations.
- Monitor patients closely during their stay in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), managing airway management, and acute pain control.
- Administer medications and IV infusions with precision, adhering to aseptic techniques and hospital protocols.
- Document patient care activities accurately and efficiently.
- Collaborate with surgical teams, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans and discharge instructions.
- Implement infection control practices and ensure sterile processing standards are maintained throughout all procedures.
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding post-operative care, medication management, and recovery expectations.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license with current registration; experience working in perioperative or critical care settings preferred.
- Hands-on experience with IV insertion, medication administration, catheter care, and aseptic technique.
- Knowledge of anesthesia recovery protocols, airway management, ventilator support, and acute pain management strategies.
- Experience working in hospital environments including PACU, ICU, OR, or trauma centers; Level I or II trauma center experience highly desirable.
- Strong assessment skills with the ability to perform physical examinations and interpret laboratory results.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams and patient education.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism while maintaining attention to detail.
- BLS required upon hire. ACLS and PALS obtained within 6 months of hire.
