- Perform decontamination, cleaning, sterilization, and reprocessing of surgical instruments, endoscopes, and other medical devices using approved sterilization methods.
- Assemble, inspect, and package sterile medical instruments with meticulous attention to detail to ensure readiness for surgical procedures.
- Manage inventory levels of sterile supplies and medical equipment, ensuring proper storage and timely replenishment to prevent shortages.
- Follow strict aseptic techniques and infection prevention protocols during all processing activities to minimize contamination risks.
- Reprocess complex medical equipment such as endoscopes according to manufacturer guidelines and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and quality control records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to understand specific instrument needs and ensure all sterilized items meet safety standards before distribution.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in sterile processing or a related healthcare environment, with knowledge of medical instrument assembly and packaging.
- Strong understanding of infection prevention management, including sterilization techniques and infection control practices.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and surgical procedures to accurately handle specialized instruments.
- Ability to operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and endoscope reprocessors effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills for inventory management and record keeping within a fast-paced setting.
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques, decontamination processes, and healthcare infection prevention standards is essential.
- Certification in sterile processing or related fields is preferred but not mandatory; relevant training will be provided for qualified candidates.
