About the Role
As an Associate Veterinarian, you will:
- Provide medical, diagnostic, surgical, and preventative care for small animals, birds, and exotic pets
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations and develop appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans
- Diagnose and manage a broad range of medical and surgical cases
- Recommend preventative-care plans, including wellness exams, vaccinations, parasite prevention, nutrition, and ongoing health management
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners regarding treatment options, prognosis, and home care
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records
- Collaborate closely with veterinary technicians and support staff to deliver efficient, high-quality patient care
- Share clinical knowledge and contribute positively to a supportive hospital culture
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree or equivalent
- Texas veterinary licence, or eligibility to obtain licensure
- Eligibility for DEA registration and applicable controlled-substance licensing
- Willingness to obtain USDA accreditation where required
- Strong clinical, diagnostic, and communication skills
- A compassionate, patient-focused approach
- Interest in small animal medicine, with enthusiasm for avian and exotic cases
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
- Openness to mentorship, continuing education, and professional development
