Job Duties
Deputy Clerk (Grade 8) is assigned operational responsibilities in a high-volume, fast-paced office with frequent deadlines. This position ensures the court’s instructions are executed, and legal documents are prepared with accuracy and in accordance with state and local policies. You must be committed to providing excellent customer service to a diverse population.
This position offers a competitive benefits package, which includes vacation and sick leave, 13 paid holidays, health insurance, retirement, life insurance, deferred compensation, and short-term and long-term disability. All full-time employees receive a $4,000.00 County salary supplement in addition to the state salary.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to: preparing detailed court documents in accordance with established guidelines, entering data into an automated case management system, imaging case files, scheduling matters for court, preparing correspondence and legal documents, providing customer service at the front counter and on the telephone, filing court documents, daily docket preparation and attending court sessions. The selected candidate must possess the ability to professionally interact with diverse customers from attorneys, law enforcement, and staff members from various agencies to the general public. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and enjoy working in a fast-paced, high-volume office with tight deadlines. Must be able to assume additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
The most competitive candidates will possess:
High School diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred. Prior knowledge of the court and judicial system preferred. Applicants with prior court experience will be given preferential consideration. Favored applicants will be able to work independently, as well as part of a team, and manage changing priorities. Time management skills and fast, accurate data entry/computer skills are required.
Preferred applicants will have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Work is primarily performed in an office and courtroom setting. Duties require the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and operate standard office equipment. The employee may be required to lift or carry items weighing up to approximately 10 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made.
