Job Title: Human Resource Generalist
General Description of Job: Managing and coordinating all personnel functions necessary to recruit, hire, onboard, and retain the best employees’ possible for Superior Steel.
Essential Job Tasks: Maintain and update accurate employee records, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies. Determining and implementing disciplinary action for employees and perform terminations when necessary. Negotiating with temporary agencies to ensure that we receive quality temporary employees at competitive costs. Managing costs related to third party recruiting services or websites. Investigating employee incidents. Working closely with payroll regarding employee issues, receiving drug screen results, managing leave, unemployment and workers’ compensation claims. Coordinate performance management process, assist in determining and approving wages, and pay increases for employees.
Other Job Tasks: Assisting in updating employee handbook, scheduling and determining needs for training, and maintaining temporary employee training spreadsheet. Assist in developing and distributing effective and engaging employee communications. Other duties as assigned by senior management.
Reports to: Controller. Internal customers are all Superior Steel employees.
Supervises: No one directly. Works closely with payroll, all managers and supervisors.
Knowledge, Skill, and Experience Requirements: Maintain correct working knowledge of company policies, employment, and civil rights laws. This position requires someone who is a skilled communicator, develops good working relationships with employees and senior management, and possesses excellent listening skills. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
Education, License, and Certification Requirements: Bachelors degree from a four year college or university, preferably with a business, human resource, or communication degree. Must have a minimum of three years human resource experience.
Amount of Supervision Required to Perform Job: Must be able to work without supervision.
Machines and Tools Used: General office equipment such as computers, calculators, telephones, fax machines, staplers, and copiers.
Environmental Factors and Working Conditions: Climate controlled office.
Appropriate Work Attire: Casual business attire, formal office attire as needed.
