As a Cleaner, you will perform a variety of building and custodial tasks including:

• Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and cleaning restrooms.
• Collecting trash, moving furniture, and making minor repairs.
• Performing building and grounds tasks such as snow and ice removal.
• Safely and properly using various equipment and cleaning products.
• Following oral and written instructions effectively.
• Working in a thorough, dependable, and efficient manner.
• Occasionally working outdoors in inclement weather.
• Responding to emergency custodial requests as needed.
• Performing preventative maintenance and minor repairs in and around facilities and grounds.
• Working nights, weekends, and on holidays as needed.

Salary: $34,312. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Shift: 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM (summer hours may vary).

SUNY Oneonta partners with New York State to support CSEA employees through the Applied Skilled Trades Program (ASTP) and other professional development opportunities. ASTP offers both traineeships and certificate programs in hands-on trades such as carpentry, electrical work, masonry and plastering, and plumbing and Steam fitting. Additional online programs are available, covering topics like business writing, communication, organizational skills, problem-solving, and courses including Microsoft Office, programming, and web design. Required Qualifications:

• Ability to perform physically demanding labor including, but not limited to, lifting heavy objects up to fifty pounds, standing, bending, walking, climbing, reaching, and repetitive motions.
• Must be able to work safely and efficiently in an environment containing caustic chemicals and cleaning materials, as well as dust and noise.
• Ability to understand and carry out written and/or oral instructions.
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with cleaning equipment and chemicals.
• Experience with waste handling.
• Experience with basic hand tools.
• Experience working with and serving diverse populations.
