In this role, you will serve as both a member of the campus Employee Services team and a point of contact for the SUNY Research Foundation (RF) and RF employees working at SUNY Oneonta. This unique position supports a wide range of HR functions while contributing to research-driven and departmental initiatives that have meaningful impact across the university.
Employee Services at SUNY Oneonta is committed to providing comprehensive human resources support that fosters a positive, inclusive, and efficient workplace environment. The department partners closely with campus leadership, faculty, and staff to deliver services related to recruitment, onboarding, benefits, and employee engagement. This role is unique in that it supports the SUNY Research Foundation (RF), a private, nonprofit organization that administers externally funded grants and contracts for SUNY, while remaining embedded within the Employee Services team. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Managing SUNY Research Foundation employee processes:
- Conducting orientations for new hires.
- Maintaining accurate employee records in ORACLE.
- Managing and monitoring compliance with the RF Affirmative Action Plan.
- Conducting thorough background checks, including criminal, reference, and credit checks as required by program needs.
- Serving as the RF IT security contact.
- Maintaining the HR portion of the Research, Grants, and Contracts website and intranet.
- Collaborating with Employee Services team members, SUNY RF, and the Office of Research, Grants and Contracts to assist with developing job descriptions, conducting searches, and administering benefits, leaves, and employee relations activities.
- Ensuring compliance with federal and state policies.
- Assisting in the preparation of employment action notices, such as pay increase notification letters.
- Providing guidance to employees regarding benefits, including health insurance, retirement, and leaves.
- Gathering data and compiling reports for compliance activities and institutional data requests.
- Developing and maintaining content for the Employee Services website and intranet, and creating informational materials and forms to support HR processes and initiatives.
- Participating actively in the Employee Services team, including identifying short- and long-range plans for onboarding and orientation initiatives.
- Collaborating with Employee Services team members and leadership to create and support training and development opportunities.
- Supporting process improvement efforts by identifying and implementing automated HR systems.
- Occasionally supervising student employees.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- A minimum of one year of professional work experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft products such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and TEAMS.
- Familiarity with web design/maintenance or ability to learn.
Additional:
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
- Ability to extract and analyze data, compose and present comprehensive reports.
- Demonstrated support of an inclusive and welcoming workplace or environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of and experience with varied human resource information systems.
