Responsibilities
- Install photovoltaic solar systems following electrical blueprints, schematics, and NEC (National Electrical Code) standards to ensure compliance and safety.
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams for system installation and troubleshooting.
- Use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and forklifts safely to assemble and mount solar panels, fixtures, wiring, and other components.
- Perform electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting on low voltage and high voltage systems to identify issues quickly and accurately.
- Conduct roofing work related to solar panel mounting while adhering to safety procedures for outdoor work environments.
- Install electrical fixtures, conduits, wiring, plumbing (where applicable), and other system components with precision.
- Follow NFPA 70 (National Fire Protection Association) electrical safety procedures during all phases of installation and maintenance.
- Ensure all work complies with NFPA 70E standards for electrical safety procedures on construction sites.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems using blueprint reading skills and diagnostic tools to resolve system faults efficiently.
- Maintain a clean work environment, document installation progress, complete reports, and ensure all safety protocols are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
Experience
- Proven experience as a commercial electrician or in electrical work related to renewable energy projects.
- Hands-on experience working as a solar technician or installer with photovoltaic systems is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of high voltage and low voltage electrical systems within the context of solar energy installations.
- Familiarity with NEC code requirements for photovoltaic system installation and NFPA 70E safety standards.
- Construction site experience including roofing, plumbing (for integrated systems), or general construction is advantageous.
- Ability to read electrical blueprints and schematics accurately; experience with blueprint reading is essential.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, ladders, forklifts, and other construction equipment safely.
- Outdoor work experience in various weather conditions with a focus on safety procedures is required.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical diagnostics across complex photovoltaic systems.
- Prior experience working in onshore renewable energy projects or similar outdoor construction environments is preferred.
