Job Description
The Practice Administrator is responsible for overall management and development of the medical practice(s). Manages personnel and directs, supervises and coordinates the overall operation of clinical and administrative departments.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with established company policies and procedures to include interviewing, hiring, providing training and guidance, directing work, maintaining attendance records, appraising performance, taking disciplinary action and recommending termination
- Promotes practice development by establishing relationships with referring physician offices, networking, and participating in appropriate business, charitable and other local organizations
- Assumes responsibility for day-to-day facilities issues
- Maintains all physician records and ensures compliance with licensing requirements
- Prepares documentation for physician hospital credentialing
- Coordinates managed care credentialing
- Keeps abreast of new or changing regulations regarding PPOs, HMOs, Medicare and other contracted plans and communicates information to all staff members
- Coordinates collection of patient balances and assist centralized billing and collection departments in obtaining documentation for insurance collections
- Prepares monthly and quarterly quality assurance reports for code capture accuracy and completeness, in an accurate and timely manner
- Reviews charges and cash receipts for variations and patterns
- Conducts spot audits to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures
- Communicates with hospital billing departments
- Provides or obtains coverage for absences
- Performs additional management and administrative duties as needed
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to use various computer systems and applications
- Ability to exercise initiative, sound judgment and problem-solving techniques in the decision-making process
- 5 years’ experience in medical office management including staff supervision
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration or related discipline strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of code capturing as it relates to overall financials of practice(s)
