This role focuses on working with students who have limited or minimal verbal abilities and may exhibit moments of dysregulation. Assignment Duration: ASAP through 5/22/2026
Schedule: Full-time, 35 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 7 hours per day with a 30-minute unpaid lunch; aligned with the school calendar
Type: Contract Position
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement specialized instructional plans for students with autism in a self-contained classroom setting
- Manage behavioral challenges with patience and effective intervention techniques
- Collaborate with support staff and families to optimize student progress
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with district standards
- Uphold a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
Qualifications:
- Active Louisiana Department of Education (DOE) Teaching Certification in Special Education required
- Experience working with students on the autism spectrum, particularly those with limited verbal communication
- Ability to handle moments of dysregulation with professionalism and care
- Successful completion of district-required drug screening and fingerprinting
- Candidates must be currently certified and ready to work without delay
Compensation:
- Competitive pay based on experience, starting at $40-$43 per hour for 0-2 years, scaling up to $49-$52 per hour for 10 years of experience
