Step into a rewarding contract position supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher in a dedicated Social Emotional Behavioral Classroom for grades 3-5. This opportunity spans from September 1 through October 30, with the possibility of extension, offering a focused full-time assignment at a single location near Windsor, CT. You’ll work from 8:20 am to 3:40 pm, Monday through Friday, making a meaningful difference every day.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current CT Special Education Teacher certification (SPED) is required
- Experience supporting students with social-emotional or behavioral needs
- Familiarity with evidence-based strategies for managing classroom behaviors
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to create a welcoming, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
- Commitment to individualized student growth and well-being
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support for a manageable caseload of students in grades 3-5 within a designated classroom
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), focusing on both emotional/behavioral and academic goals
- Work collaboratively with support staff, counselors, and administrators
- Utilize a variety of interventions and accommodations to foster student engagement and success
- Regularly document progress, communicate with families, and adjust instruction as needed
- Maintain a positive, safe space for each student to thrive socially and academically
