This contract position offers an opportunity to provide vital support to students with trauma backgrounds and autism in a school setting. Situated in Saratoga Springs, NY, this role involves working 12 hours per week, delivering focused social work services tailored to the unique needs of this student population.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct social work support to students with autism who have experienced trauma
- Collaborate with school staff, families, and external providers to create individualized support plans
- Conduct assessments to identify social-emotional needs and develop intervention strategies
- Facilitate counseling sessions, group activities, and crisis intervention as needed
- Document case notes and maintain accurate records in compliance with school policies
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure coordinated student support
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working as a school social worker with students on the autism spectrum
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and interventions relevant to children and adolescents
- Ability to effectively communicate and build rapport with students, families, and educators
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a caseload independently
- Familiarity with special education and school-based mental health services
