Job Title: Cost Controller

Position Summary: The Cost Controller will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on manufacturing costs to ensure accurate product costing and profitability. This role supports operational efficiency, cost reduction initiatives, and financial planning for a small to mid-size privately held manufacturing business.
Key Responsibilities:
· Cost Analysis & Reporting
· Track and analyze production costs, material usage, labor, and overhead expenses.
· Prepare detailed cost reports and variance analyses against budgets and forecasts.
· Maintain accurate cost accounting records and ensure proper allocation of expenses.
· Budgeting & Forecasting
· Assist in developing annual budgets and rolling forecasts for manufacturing operations.
· Monitor actual costs versus budget and provide actionable insights to management.
· Process Improvement
· Cycle count audits
· Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend efficiency improvements.
· Collaborate with operations and procurement teams to optimize material and labor costs.
· Compliance & Controls
· Ensure adherence to company policies and accounting standards.
· Support internal controls related to inventory valuation and cost accounting.
· Cross-Functional Support
· Work closely with production, supply chain, and finance teams to align cost strategies.
· Provide cost data for pricing decisions and profitability analysis.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CMA preferred).
· 5 years of experience in cost accounting or financial analysis within manufacturing.
· Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and inventory management.
· Proficiency in ERP systems (Quick Books, Odoo) and advanced Excel skills.
· Excellent analytical and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience in small to mid-sized manufacturing environments.
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
· Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
· Agricultural background.
· Exposure to General Ledger and Financial statement preparation.
