What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Inside Sales Consultant position at Sun Atlas Power?
As a Technical Inside Sales Consultant, you will act as the primary subject matter expert for potential clients. You will move beyond simple qualifications to provide deep-dive analysis of energy usage, financial ROI, and system viability. Your goal is not just to "close," but to build trust through competence, leveraging data to demonstrate the logic of clean energy adoption.
Key Responsibilities
Sun Atlas Power is an equal opportunity employer and administers all personnel practices without regard to race, color, religious creed, sex, gender, age, ancestry, national origin, mental or physical disability or medical condition, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, military or veteran status, genetic information, or any other category protected under federal, state, or local law.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze homeowner utility data and energy usage patterns to build accurate financial savings models (ROI, IRR, Payback Period).
- Utilize solar design software to evaluate roof viability, shading, and system production estimates.
- Translate complex technical and financial concepts (tax incentives, net metering policies, offset percentages) into clear, understandable insights for the homeowner.
- Manage a pipeline of inbound and warm leads; focus is on high-quality engagement rather than high-volume cold calling.
- Conduct virtual consultations to present custom energy proposals, focusing on the economic and environmental logic of the project.
- Nurture long-term prospects through a detailed, educational sales cycle, ensuring no question is left unanswered.
- Maintain meticulous records in our CRM, focusing on data integrity to assist the operations and design teams.
- Partner with the engineering and operations teams to ensure what is sold can be built efficiently.
- Participate in advanced training regarding energy policy, battery storage technology, and financial products.
- Provide feedback on pricing models and sales collateral to improve the technical accuracy of our messaging.
- All other duties assigned.
- You enjoy working with numbers and can explain the "math" behind a decision. You are comfortable discussing interest rates, inflation, and energy escalation.
- Experience with CRM software (Salesforce, Zoho) and Solar Design tools (Aurora, Helioscope, Open Solar) is highly valued.
- You listen more than you speak. You believe in selling by educating, not by pressuring.
- You are looking for a long-term role where you can grow your expertise. You are detail-oriented and take pride in the accuracy of your work.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, particularly in Business, Finance, Environmental Science, or a related technical field.
- 2 years in consultative sales, technical account management, or the solar industry.
- Proven history of managing complex sales cycles or explaining technical products to non-technical audiences.
- This position may require the ability to perform tasks that involve sitting, standing, walking, lifting 25 lbs, computer work and other physical activities. Candidates should be able to meet these physical demands with or without reasonable accommodation.
