Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist serves as a trusted, hands-on partner to employees and leaders across both Sun America and Central Coated Products. This role provides full-cycle HR support in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ensuring effective employee relations, compliance, and HR process execution.
Working closely with the Director of Human Resources, the HR Generalist supports day-to-day HR operations, including employee relations, attendance management, benefits and leave administration, recruitment, onboarding, and HR systems management. This role requires a strong presence on the production floor and the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Leadership Support
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employees and leaders regarding HR policies, attendance, and workplace concerns.
- Provide coaching and guidance on performance management, corrective actions, and documentation.
- Conduct investigations and support disciplinary actions and terminations, ensuring consistency and compliance.
- Promote a positive work environment through proactive engagement and conflict resolution.
Attendance, Payroll & HR Systems
- Support and monitor attendance programs, including point tracking and policy administration.
- Assist with payroll preparation, timecard review, and resolution of discrepancies in coordination with payroll providers.
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry and transactions within HRIS and ERP systems (e.g., UKG Ready, payroll systems, ERP platforms).
- Maintain employee records and ensure data integrity across all systems.
Compliance & Leave Administration
- Administer employee leaves including FMLA, ADA accommodations, and disability programs, ensuring compliance and proper documentation.
- Maintain personnel files and HR documentation in accordance with legal and company requirements.
- Support audits and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Partner with leadership to reinforce company policies and mitigate risk.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Support recruiting efforts including job postings, resume screening, interview coordination, and candidate communication.
- Participate in interviews and hiring decisions in collaboration with leadership.
- Facilitate onboarding and new hire orientation, ensuring a smooth and compliant onboarding experience.
- Maintain job descriptions and organizational charts aligned with business needs.
Training, Engagement & Culture
- Support training initiatives, including onboarding, compliance training, and leadership development programs.
- Assist in employee engagement efforts, company events, and recognition programs.
- Reinforce company culture through consistent communication and leadership support.
General HR Operations
- Partner with the Director of HR on strategic initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
- Prepare HR reports, metrics, and analysis as needed.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in handling sensitive information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3–5 years of HR Generalist experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws including FMLA, ADA, EEOC, and wage and hour regulations.
- Experience with HRIS systems, payroll processing, and ERP systems required.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Exposure to typical manufacturing conditions, including noise, temperature changes, and moving equipment.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hairnets and safety footwear when on the production floor.
