Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-oriented IT Support Specialist to join our dynamic team.
The IT Support Specialist assist the IT manager in maintaining the daily operations of the IT department. The primary duties of this role are to help the IT manager provide technical support through help desk and to manage all computer systems and networks for the college.
This position also requires responsibility for maintaining the Sim Lab and ensuring it is prepared for the instructors use, including all associated tasks.
Duties
- Manage student and facility computers and devices.
- Help students in setting up their personal computers, handling hardware and software challenges and addressing miscellaneous issues.
- Maintain and track testing and student loaner laptops.
- Develop and update images for Sumner College computers for staff and specific purposes.
- Use images to create new faculty, Staff, Loaner, and Classroom computers as needed.
- Ensure prompt responsiveness to help desk tickets.
- Support the installation and maintenance of Sumner College printers.
- Aid in the creation and adjustment of user profiles across Active Directory, mail servers, Zoom, Phone system, and computing hardware.
- Undertake special projects as assigned.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to the Sumner College community.
- Assist with preparations and disbursement of new student laptops and supplies.
Sim Labs Technology Responsibilities
- Responsible for the set up and take down of simulation technology.
- Prepare for all sims including programming Sim pad or LLEAP Laptop for each scenario, set up of laptops for Zoom to classroom, Computer in room, and vitals monitor.
- Communicate with Faculty to ensure simulations are set up the desired way.
- Assist faculty as needed to run the equipment during the simulation labs, and trouble shoot issues with sim technology.
- Educate faculty on proper use of simulation equipment when necessary.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in various operating systems including Windows and Mac OS.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
- Experience in desktop support and help desk environments.
- Knowledge of LAN technologies and troubleshooting techniques.
- Familiarity with computer hardware components and their functionality.
- Ability to provide effective technical support in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of VPN technologies and secure network practices is a plus.
- Previous experience in technical support roles is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong knowledge and Experience with MS Office Suites
