Job Description: Front End Pharmacy Technician
Supervised by: Pharmacist, Director of Operations
Key Responsibilities:
Dispensing Duties:
- Fulfill prescription orders accurately and efficiently under pharmacist supervision.
- Input and manage prescription data into pharmacy management software.
- Collaborate with our on-staff registered dietitian to support patient-specific treatment plans.
- Maintain and organize medication inventory and supplies.
- Prepare prescriptions for patient pickup or delivery.
Customer Service & Patient Interaction:
- Provide friendly, compassionate, and professional service to all patients and customers.
- Answer incoming phone calls, address inquiries, and handle refill requests with accuracy and efficiency.
- Educate patients on proper medication usage, storage, and handling (as directed by the pharmacist).
- Assist walk-in patients with prescription drop-offs, pickups, and general product inquiries.
Administrative & Data Entry:
- Accurately enter patient and prescription information into pharmacy systems.
- Verify insurance information and assist with billing or claim issues as needed.
- Maintain detailed and organized records in compliance with pharmacy regulations.
Qualifications:
- Previous pharmacy or healthcare experience preferred; however, full training will be provided.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with computers and ability to learn pharmacy software systems.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a busy work environment.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Must be able to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
- Frequent walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity required for operating lab equipment and preparing compounds with precision.
- Routine use of computer, phone, and pharmacy software systems.
- Must wear required garbing and personal protective equipment (PPE) when working in sterile and non-sterile compounding environments, including gowns, gloves, masks, shoe covers, and hair coverings.
- Ability to work in temperature-controlled cleanroom or lab settings for portions of the workday.
- Must adhere to strict hygiene and contamination control procedures.
- Occasional exposure to chemicals or pharmaceutical ingredients, always within safe, regulated environments.
