Position Overview:
Schnee Learning Center is seeking a passionate and dedicated full-time ELA teacher to engage, educate, and inspire students in grades 9-12. This teacher will focus on fostering academic growth within a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment. Candidates with experience working with at-risk students are highly encouraged to apply.
Qualifications:
- Valid Ohio teaching license in English/Language Arts (7-12)
- Completed Ohio Science of Reading professional development
- Demonstrated experience or the ability to work with at-risk student populations.
- Flexibility, creativity, and a passion for helping students achieve their potential.
- Proficiency in technology to enhance instruction and communication.
- Successful completion of all pre-employment screenings.
- Additional qualifications as deemed acceptable by the Governing Board.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Design & Delivery
- Create engaging lesson plans aligned with Ohio Learning Standards and Science of Reading principles while integrating Ohio Career-Tech standards.
- Use innovative instructional methods, including collaboration, problem-based learning, and inquiry.
- Integrate technology to enhance instruction and build students' critical thinking, creativity, and communication skills.
- Design real-world learning activities to demonstrate the relevance of ELA concepts.
- Incorporate innovative teaching methods, including problem-based and inquiry-driven learning.
- Provide authentic learning experiences connected to real-world applications, integrating Ohio Career-Tech and problem-solving.
Student Support & Engagement
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment to support diverse learning needs.
- Establish professional and constructive relationships with students to foster academic growth and social-emotional development.
- Guide students in literacy, writing, active listening, and critical thinking skills while addressing individual educational needs.
- Actively engage students in their learning through collaboration and self-direction.
Assessment & Progress Monitoring
- Use evidence-based assessments to measure, monitor, and improve student learning.
- Provide ongoing, constructive feedback to students and parents through regular progress reports.
- Collaborate with colleagues to analyze data and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to ensure continuity of instruction.
- Partner with parents and community organizations to support student learning and career readiness.
- Attend and contribute to professional development and team meetings, including those held after school.
- Maintain accurate and timely student records, including grades, attendance, and behavioral documentation.
Professional Development & Leadership
- Continuously enhance professional skills through workshops, training, and reflective practices.
- Support school leadership by contributing to initiatives that improve educational outcomes.
Additional Expectations:
- Maintain classroom order in a fair and just manner aligned to clearly communicated expectations.
- Use of electronic tools for student recordkeeping, grading, and communication as required.
- Assist with planning and delivering intervention strategies for students in need of additional support in literacy and other areas.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by the executive director/principal
