JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for performing basic maintenance and repair work on facilities, buildings, and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations. This role includes troubleshooting and completing repairs across multiple trades, including carpentry, plumbing, and painting. The position ensures work areas are maintained in a clean and safe condition, responds to maintenance-related incidents, and follows established procedures to complete all tasks.

 

Work is performed under general supervision with limited latitude in the use of initiative. Position exercises some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques.  

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs basic maintenance and repair work on facilities, buildings, and equipment across multiple trades, including carpentry, plumbing, and painting

  • Troubleshoots maintenance issues and completes repairs in a timely and efficient manner

  • Maintains clean, safe, and organized work areas; responds to maintenance-related incidents

  • Retrieves parts, supplies, and equipment from storerooms as needed

  • Maintains accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed

  • Performs all work in accordance with established procedures, standards, and guidelines

  • Provides technical guidance, mentoring, and task leadership to other maintenance staff

  • Works both collaboratively with other team members and supervisors to meet deadlines and achieve project goals

  • Works independently and collaboratively with other team members and supervisors to achieve project goals

  • Ensures the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times 

  • Follows organizational safety guidelines and protocols, performs job functions in a safe manner, and reports all safety hazards per established policies and procedures

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED and two (2) year of maintenance experience; 

  • OR a combination of experience, certification, education and training that demonstrates expertise in the related areas.

 

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES OR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess and maintain a regular Class E Driver’s License 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical or vocational training in maintenance or mechanical trades

  • Experience with carpentry, plumbing, or painting skills

  • Bilingual – English and Spanish

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Knowledge of industrial facility maintenance practices and equipment systems 

  • Knowledge of safety protocols and compliance standards related to maintenance operations

  • Skill in using mathematics required for the work

  • Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics

  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems

  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and senior workers 

  • Ability to follow safety guidelines and protocols and perform job functions in a safe manner

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those interacted with during work regardless of race, color, religious creed, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, genetic information, disability, political affiliation, military service, or diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds

  • Ability to maintain regular attendance to ensure efficient and effective performance of job duties

 

AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA) REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 50 pounds). Tasks that require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use of proper techniques and moving equipment. Tasks may involve some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

  • Tasks are regularly performed inside and/or outside with exposure to adverse environmental conditions (e.g., dirt, cold, rain, fumes).

  • Some tasks require manual dexterity, in addition to visual and hearing acuity. Some tasks may involve identifying and distinguishing colors. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals.
