Custodian (2nd Shift)

Substitute Teacher Service Inc. is seeking qualified applicants to fill immediate Custodial Substitute roles within the Downingtown Area School District.

Schedule & Hours (as assigned):

Elementary Schools: 2:45 PM- 11:15 PM

Middle/High Schools: 2:00 PM- 10:30 PM

Candidates must have a high school diploma or greater.

Rate of pay is $21.37 per hour, paid through Substitute Teacher Service.

Interviews will be held 10/14 from 2pm to 3pm or 10/16 from 1pm to 4pm at DASD for those selected.

Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and energetic Custodians (2nd Shift) to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across various facilities during the second shift. Your efforts will ensure that all areas meet sanitation standards and safety protocols, contributing to a positive experience for staff and visitors alike.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, and restroom sanitation using appropriate cleaning equipment and chemical agents.
• Handle custodial tasks such as floor buffing, floor care, and applying maintenance procedures to uphold facility appearance and safety standards.
• Operate cleaning machinery like floor buffers and other commercial cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
• Follow all safety protocols related to chemical handling, manual handling, heavy lifting, and equipment operation to prevent accidents or injuries.
• Assist with light maintenance tasks including minor repairs or residential painting as needed to support facility upkeep.
• Maintain cleanliness in common areas, hallways, offices, restrooms, and other designated spaces consistently throughout your shift.
• Adhere strictly to chemical handling safety procedures and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe environment for everyone.

Experience

• Prior custodial or janitorial experience in commercial or residential settings is preferred.
• Experience with floor buffers, floor care techniques, and the use of cleaning equipment is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of chemical agent handling safety procedures and proper manual handling practices is essential.
• Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting safely and follow safety protocol adherence is required.
• Customer service skills are a plus for interacting professionally with staff and visitors while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Previous experience in facilities maintenance or porter roles will be considered an asset.
