What are the responsibilities and job description for the STUDENT-Music Studies Peer Tutor position at Student?
Tutoring for the Introduction to Music Studies class (MUTH 11100) - 2 hours per week in the fall 2025 semester.
Hours Per Week: 2
Anticipated Work Schedule:
During set hours: two hours chosen from MTWR 7 – 8 pm
Qualifications:
- Outstanding academic achievement as evidenced by GPA
- Outstanding achievement in aural skills and music theory courses
- Formal or informal experience teaching/tutoring music theory required; formal work experience tutoring fundamentals of music theory in the IC Center for Music preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work during posted hours
- Required strong experience with music technology, including facility with Canvas, Microsoft 365, Audacity, Spotify, and MuseScore
- Personal qualities conducive to one-on-one conferences, such as a friendly, approachable manner; patience; good listening abilities; and a sense of maturity and responsibility
