What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, with a technical certificate preferred, and five (5) or more years of tool-making experience, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and experience.
We’re looking for an experienced professional who can work with a high degree of independence and exercise sound judgment when completing complex tooling projects. The successful candidate should be able to read and understand blueprints, sketches, models, descriptions, and other specifications and determine the materials, equipment, and processes needed to fabricate parts and tooling that meet customer requirements.
The Senior Tool Maker should also be comfortable designing and producing fixtures, tooling, loading fixtures, and job-specific gages; troubleshooting and repairing existing tooling; and assisting machinists when needed. Strong attention to quality, safety, efficiency, and timely completion of tooling projects is essential.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, modify, and repair parts, fixtures, and tooling.
- Design and produce new fixtures, tooling, and loading fixtures to support manufacturing needs.
- Produce gages for specific jobs and manufacturing applications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, models, descriptions, and other specifications.
- Determine the materials and machines needed to fabricate parts, build tooling, and meet customer requirements.
- Operate tool room equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with OSHA standards and company procedures.
- Prepare purchase requisitions for raw materials and components and recommend outside fabrication when needed to complete assigned projects.
- Apply advanced tool-making knowledge, experience, and independent judgment to complete projects efficiently and accurately.
- Assist machinists as needed to support manufacturing operations.
