Part-Time Physical Education Teacher (K–8)
Strides Academy, a private special education school serving students in grades K–8, is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and dependable Part-Time Physical Education Teacher to join our team.
This position is ideal for an educator who is passionate about promoting physical wellness, teamwork, confidence, and movement-based learning in a supportive and therapeutic school environment.
Position Details
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Position Type: Part-Time
Student Population: Grades K–8
School Setting: Private Special Education School
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate physical education activities for students in grades K–8
- Adapt lessons and activities to support a variety of learning, behavioral, and physical needs
- Promote physical fitness, cooperation, sportsmanship, and healthy habits
- Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive gym environment
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and school staff to support student success
- Supervise students during physical education activities and transitions
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in educational or recreational settings
- Ability to create a positive and encouraging learning environment
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Experience working with students with special needs preferred
- RI teaching certification is a plus, but not required depending on experience, qualifications and education
