What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estate Planning and Probate Paralegal position at Streeter Law Firm, LLC?
Streeter Law Firm is a busy estate planning, probate, and business law firm looking for an experienced Estate Planning Paralegal to help us keep pace with a growing caseload. You'll work directly with our attorney to draft documents, prepare wills, trusts, powers of attorney drafts, and probate filings, and keep active matters moving from intake to closing. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows (or wants to specialize in) wills, trusts, and probate and is ready to own real case work, not just support tasks.
What You'll Do
- Draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and related documents from firm templates for attorney review
- Prepare and track trust funding (deeds, account retitling, assignment of membership into trust, etc.)
- Draft probate pleadings, inventories, and accountings
- Prepare trust certificates and trust/will amendment documents
- Review documents for correctness — captions, required paragraphs, signature blocks — before they go to the attorney for approval
- Coordinate document signings and notarizations with clients
- Interview clients directly to gather the information needed for their estate plan or probate case, while maintaining confidentiality
- Coordinate with courts, financial institutions, and other stakeholders (banks, title companies, transfer agents) to keep trust funding and filings moving
- Keep case stages and notes current in MyCase so nothing sits idle
- Communicate with clients about case status and next steps (not legal advice)
What We're Looking For
- Prior experience as a paralegal, ideally in estate planning, probate, or trust administration
- Strong, accurate legal drafting and proofreading skills
- Comfortable managing a high volume of active matters at once
- Organized, deadline-driven, and able to flag issues before they become problems
- Familiarity with MyCase or similar case management software a plus
- New Mexico notary public (or willing to become one)
Details
- Pay: $20–$30/hour, depending on experience
- Schedule: Full-time, in-office
- Start: We're looking to fill this role within the next several weeks
- The first 30 days are a working trial period for both of us to confirm it's a good fit
