What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Manager position at Stream-Flo?
Key position functions include:
- Evaluate subsea market opportunities with respect to fit for Master Flo applications; develop and present penetration strategies for existing and new customers and markets.
- Continually assess market trends, future industry requirements, and competitor activity to inform commercial and product strategy.
- Seek to influence product specification at the earliest project stage to secure a favorable position for Master Flo solutions.
- Monitor bid and proposal activity across Operator HQs in the USA, including projects located abroad; provide strategic input on bid positioning.
- Provide input to product development initiatives based on direct market and customer intelligence.
Customer Engagement & Relationship Management
- Establish and maintain effective credibility and rapport with key customer contacts at operators, EPC contractors, and end users.
- Aid in the preparation, presentation, and negotiation of quotations; support the full sales cycle from inquiry through award.
- Proactively troubleshoot and resolve customer issues and concerns, ensuring satisfaction and continuity of business.
- Represent Master Flo at customer events, trade shows, conferences, and industry gatherings to increase brand awareness and familiarity.
- Deliver technical presentations to customers in support of both business development objectives and product understanding.
Engineering Leadership & Departmental Management
- Provide engineering leadership and expertise for all Master Flo USA business activities, including alignment with central engineering team at headquarters and technical liaison with customers and prospective customers.
- Ensure designs are approved per the requirements of corporate engineering design center at headquarters.
- Direct, mentor, and develop engineering staff; foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Establish and manage the annual USA engineering budget; maintain key performance indicators for engineering activities.
- Oversee engineering requirements associated with Houston service and manufacturing activities.
- Lead product troubleshooting efforts and determine root cause of product reliability issues; implement corrective actions.
- Support R&D, qualification testing, and patent activities in coordination with global engineering teams.
Technical Expertise & Product Stewardship
- Maintain subject matter expertise across the full range of Master Flo products, including production chokes, specialty control valves, actuation systems, and subsea applications.
- Ensure that Master Flo product offerings are accurately matched to customer and project technical requirements.
- Maintain a high level of technical understanding of product lines; promote through presentations, training sessions, and FEED studies.
- Review emerging technologies and market innovations to analyze their potential impact and opportunity for Master Flo.
- Continually identify opportunities to improve existing product line features, reliability, and competitive advantages.
- Advise on bid specifications.
Reporting, Compliance & Process
- Complete regular and detailed sales reports; ensure compliance with CRM system use within the team.
- Maintain a detailed and current database of customer contacts within the CRM system.
- Minute and action customer concerns, complaints, and scope changes in a timely manner.
- Ensure that Company interests, proprietary information, and property are protected to the fullest extent.
- Provide training on engineering processes and contribute to continuous process improvement across Sales and Engineering.
- Actively support and comply with all corporate programs, directives, and standards relating to Health, Safety, Environment, Quality, and Human Resources.
Preferred candidates will possess a combination of the following:
- Graduate from a recognized University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10 years of combined engineering and technical sales experience in the oil and gas industry, with extensive practical knowledge of subsea equipment.
- Knowledgeable and experienced in API 17D and API 6A standards and relevant industry design codes.
- Leadership/supervisory experience combined with a high degree of professionalism.
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet customer-imposed deadlines with a strong drive for customer satisfaction.
- Proven track record of market penetration and effective customer relationship management.
- Experience in international business and working with major project EPC contractors and end users.
- Self-starter with entrepreneurial outlook to identify and pursue new opportunities.
- Working knowledge of production chokes, specialty control valves, actuation systems, and industry applications.
- Extensive network of contacts and customers within the United States.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; high level of self-motivation and time management.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Windchill, and Creo.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, goal-driven environment.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Able to travel within the USA and internationally as required.
